Job Description:

Retail District Manager

Location: New York City area (Including surrounding Mid-Atlantic area)

Field Based Territory Role

The Retail District Manager supporting Royal Canin is responsible for developing business plans and cultivating customer relationships that result in client satisfaction and the opportunity for our products to become the reference in healthy pet diets. This Associate is responsible for meeting the following principal accountabilities in all retail units within her/his territory including independent retail pet specialty stores.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nutrition, or animal science preferred not required

  • 3+ years of experience in sales

  • Proficient written and verbal communication

  • Ability to translate data into insights

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Experience with MS Office, Salesforce, Springboard, Etc.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license & clean driving record

  • Ability to physically lift large quantities of product (40+lbs)

  • Able to sit, stand, walk and/or drive for long periods of time, as well as frequently bend, kneel and stoop

  • Subject to outside weather conditions and changing climates

  • Ability to travel overnight if required

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Brand Advocacy & Associate Education

    • Drive Recommendation at Shelf: Deliver engaging, high-impact training sessions for retail store associates to build passion and knowledge for both Royal Canin and Eukanuba.

    • Empower Staff: Teach retail partners the science-based nutritional benefits of our formulas so they can confidently recommend them to pet parents.

    • Maximize Visibility: Act as the face of our brands, elevating their profile and prestige across all store visits.

  • Best-in-Class Merchandising & Perfect Store Execution

    • Perfect Store Standards: Gain distribution of core and innovative SKUs using Category Management selling methodologies.

    • Visual Merchandising: Install and maintain high-impact promotional materials, including end-caps, shelf-talkers, customized displays, and banners.

    • POS Validation: Regularly audit point-of-sale materials to ensure pricing and brand messaging are accurate and positioned for maximum consumer conversion

  • Territory Management & Sales Growth

    • Route Optimization: Build and execute daily and weekly territory routing plans to ensure optimal store coverage and cost-effective travel schedules.

    • LASER Sales-Call Process: Complete structured retail calls across Key Accounts, Regional Accounts, and independent retailers.

    • Data-Driven Growth: Leverage Salesforce and other analytical tools to help identify trends, diagnose gaps, and execute mutually beneficial growth opportunities.

    • Data Integrity: Keep CRM systems up to date with accurate account segmentation, activity tracking, and tagging

  • Financial & Administrative Discipline

    • Budget & Credits: Manage a pre-approved expense budget and process retail store credits on a daily/weekly basis in accordance with regional compliance guidelines.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
