ECS believes it is never too early or too late to start learning, which is why we use an asset-based approach to maximize clients’ current strengths. Whether in our schools, community centers, or internship sites, ECS creates equitable learning environments that promote leadership development, self-advocacy, and community building. Our programs equip clients with essential skills and experiences today so that they are empowered to take the next step tomorrow.  School Violence Prevention Program: NYSED SVP program provides students with a safe, supportive environment focused on preventing violence and promoting positive decision-making. Through mentoring, conflict-resolution workshops, social-emotional learning, leadership activities, academic support, and recreational enrichment, students develop communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. The program empowers youth to manage conflicts peacefully, build positive relationships, and contribute to a safe and supportive school community.    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES     Under the supervision of the Program Director, the School Safety Aid will:  Monitor hallways, common areas, entrances, exits, and other designated areas of the school campus.    Help maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive environment for students and staff.   Assist administrators and school staff in addressing student safety concerns, conflicts, disturbances, and other situations requiring assistance.   Escort students to a designated safe place or other appropriate school location when a student needs to leave a classroom or area for safety, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, or administrative support.   Remain with or monitor students as directed by school administration and follow established student supervision procedures.   Observe and report unusual, unsafe, or potentially threatening behavior or conditions to the appropriate administrator.   Help enforce school safety procedures and students conduct expectations in a calm, respectful, and professional manner.   Provide directions and assistance to students, staff, parents/guardians, and visitors.   Assist with emergency procedures, drills, evacuations, lockdowns, and other safety responses as directed and trained.   Help prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas and notify appropriate personnel of security concerns.   Maintain accurate and timely documentation of incidents, observations, or student safety concerns as required.   Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, school security personnel, and other school staff.   Use de-escalation and conflict-management techniques when interacting with students.   Refer students to counselors, administrators, nurses, or other appropriate school personnel when additional support is needed  Perform other duties related to school safety and student supervision as assigned.  Fulfill other program activities as assigned by the Program Director.  Education and Experience:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Experience working with youth, schools, community programs, security, public safety and, or customer service preferred.  Skills and Competencies:  Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with high school students and members of the public.  Ability to remain calm, and professional in stressful or potentially difficult situations.  Strong observation and situational awareness skills.  Ability to follow established safety procedures and instructions.  Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with school administrators.  Ability to exercise sound judgment and recognize when a situation requires assistance from school administration, emergency services, or law enforcement.  COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW  $32.97 - $35.71 per hour; equivalent to $60K - $65K annual salary.  CPC offers competitive and comprehensive benefits packages, including generous paid time off (holiday, sick, and vacation time), Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance Coverage, and 403(b) Retirement Plan.  HOW TO APPLY  Interested individuals should submit their resume, along with a cover letter addressed to Brenda Mai and Ying Xie, when applying online via CPC’s website: https://www.cpc-nyc.org/jobs or selected online job boards.
