Job Description

Ares Management is seeking a Senior Associatefor our US Public Credit accounting team. TheSenior Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and oversight of severalprivate fund portfolio companies of several public investment companies regulated by the investment company act of 1940.Ā  These private fund portfolio companies include an SEC-registered investment advisor and several joint ventures of the regulated companies.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā 

Primary functions and essential responsibilitiesĀ 

  • Assist with preparation of US GAAP financial statements for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines for the various funds.Ā Ā 

  • Prepare quarterly GAAP consolidated financial statements for an SEC-registered investment advisor, a controlled portfolio company of the Business Development Company (ā€œBDCā€).Ā 

  • Provide the regulated companies and management company with data for quarterly SEC filings.Ā Ā 

  • Oversee and review daily and monthly NAV packages from the fund administrator.Ā 

  • Assist in managing relationships and liaising with internal resources, fund administers and auditors to meet all daily, monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines.Ā 

  • High level of interaction across the organization, including communications with portfolio managers, investor relations, operations, tax and financial reporting.Ā Ā 

  • Assist with monthly/quarterly close process and preparation of various financial statement account balance reconciliations and workpapers.Ā 

  • Review reporting to investors and internal constituents (portfolio managers, investor relations)Ā Ā 

  • Work closely with operations and other groups in managing daily cash and position breaksĀ 

  • Manage daily cash activities for several private funds, including processing of payments,approving and coding invoices and posting to the general ledger.Ā 

  • Prepare quarterly waterfall calculations and review monthly distribution reports from the trustee.Ā Ā 

  • Provide compliance reporting (Form PF, ADV, etc.)Ā 

  • Participate and contribute to regular review of processes and deliverables to improve effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy.Ā 

  • Various ad-hoc/special projects.Ā 

QualificationsĀ 

Education:Ā 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldĀ 

Ā 

Certification:Ā 

  • CPA or relevant certification is a plusĀ 

Experience Required:Ā Ā Ā Ā 

  • 4-6 years of relevant professional experience (preferred)Ā 

  • Public Accounting experience, Big 4 (preferred)Ā 

  • Industry experience, specifically with credit related investmentsĀ 

  • Experience with Advent Geneva, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central AND Onestream software a plusĀ

  • Ability to multi-task and manage various deadlinesĀ 

  • Advent Geneva experience a plusĀ 

  • Strong Excel skills (e.g. complex formulas, macros)Ā 

  • Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau or other business intelligence tools a plusĀ

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$130,000 - $160,000
