DuPont is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Manufacturing Operator to join our Direct Form team at the Pencader site in Newark, DE.
This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined operator with hands-on experience in skilled manufacturing, press operations, compaction molding, powdered metals, specialty resin processing, or a similar production environment.
As a Direct Form Manufacturing Operator, you will operate precision resin press equipment, perform set-ups and adjustments, monitor product quality, and support safe, reliable production of high-performance components used in advanced industries.
Schedule: Shift work required (24/5 operation – fixed 8-hour shifts). Schedule can change to 12hrs shifts pending business needs. Â
What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for safely operating and setting up press lines, sintering ovens, and tumbling equipment while meeting production, quality, and documentation requirements.
Operate, set up, and adjust mechanical and hydraulic press equipment.
Perform in-process inspections using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Read and follow work instructions, quality plans, travelers, and production documentation.
Monitor process performance using standard work, SPC data, and inspection requirements.
Identify quality issues, troubleshoot basic equipment or process concerns, and escalate when needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all site safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Successful candidates will bring proven manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced production setting.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Prior experience in skilled manufacturing, skilled trades, press operations, compaction molding, powdered metals, specialty resin processing, or similar hands-on production work.
Mechanical aptitude with hand tools, power tools, equipment set-up, or machine adjustment.
Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, and gauges).Â
Ability to use basic math, decimals, and measurements to thousandths of an inch.
Ability to read graphs, charts, technical drawings, work instructions, and quality documentation.
Basic computer skills for production reporting, data entry, and communication.
Willingness to work shift schedules, including fixed 8-hour shifts and potential 12-hour shifts based on business needs.
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
Background in powdered metals manufacturing or compaction molding is highly preferred. This experience translates heavily to our specialty resin pressing process and positions candidates for success on the accelerated set-up track.Â
Hands-on experience operating or setting up press-based forming equipment (specialty resin, powdered metal, or similar compaction processes). Â
Accelerated Training Path
This position is designed for experienced operators who can move quickly through a structured development path: Level 1 qualification within 3 months, followed by Level 2 qualification within 4 months after achieving Level 1. Pay progression is tied to successful completion of required skills and qualifications.
Selection Process
Candidates must pass a written assessment covering basic math, measurement, and interpretation of graphs, charts, and tables. A hands-on mechanical aptitude assessment may also be required.
This position requires access to export-controlled technology, technical data or defense services, as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access export-controlled technology, technical data or defense services as authorized pursuant to US regulation or an export authorization obtained by DuPont approved by the controlling US government agency.
