This role requires working cross-functionally with Research & Development, Manufacturing, Marine Operations, Sales, Product Line Management, and Project Management teams to compile innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements.  The Senior Project Engineer provides engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from system architecture and bid development through design validation, customer engagement, and project execution. This position operates in a fast-paced global environment, managing multiple high-priority opportunities and projects while ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.  Responsibilities  Develop technical solutions for undersea fiber optic communication systems based on customer requirements .  Serve as the technical lead during customer bids, proposals, contract negotiations, and project execution activities, providing expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle.  Collaborate with Sales, Product Line Management, Project Management, R&D, Manufacturing, and Marine Operations teams to define system requirements, develop bid strategies, and ensure successful project delivery.  Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts required during project implementation.  Perform and oversee system modeling, optical and electrical power budget analyses, reliability assessments, availability calculations, and other engineering evaluations to validate proposed solutions.  Lead technical discussions, presentations, design reviews, and problem-solving activities with customers, internal stakeholders, and project teams.  Drive continuous improvement initiatives by developing and enhancing engineering tools, software applications, design methodologies, templates, and calculation models used in system design and analysis.  Provide mentorship to junior engineers while supporting the successful execution of business objectives.  QualificationsQualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline required.  Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, optical networking, submarine cable systems, or a related industry.  Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects and cross-functional technical teams.  Strong understanding of optical transmission systems and network design principles.  Experience developing technical proposals, customer solutions, and system-level architectures.  Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.  Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.  Ability to effectively engage with customers, executive leadership, and technical stakeholders.  Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.  NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.  Candidates for positions with SubCom must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification will be required at the time of hire.
