Technical Communicator – Power Systems 
Can be based from any of our branches:
Poughkeepsie, NY; Bloomingburg, NY; Bronx, NY; Medford, NY; Holtsville, NY; Newington, CT

Pay: $90,000-$115,000/year
Bonus Potential: 15%

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electric Power Generation (EPG), diesel engine, or power systems service and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Caterpillar engines, generators, controls, and related EPG products.
  • Proficiency with Caterpillar diagnostic and service tools, including CAT ET, SIS, and other technical software applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and develop proactive solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to technicians, customers, management, Caterpillar, and vendors.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical training, including product, safety, and diagnostic software training.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and serve as a technical liaison between field personnel, management, OEM representatives, and vendors.

Preferred: Technical degree in Diesel, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology; Caterpillar certifications; and experience supporting new product introductions (NPI), technical projects, and product support initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to support technicians, supervisors, and managers to help troubleshoot EPG (Electric Power Generation) problems with pro-active resolutions 

  • Effectively track, document and communicate product problems and resolutions
  • Work with technicians, supervisors, and managers to troubleshoot product problems
  • Act as a liaison between technicians, supervisors, managers, Caterpillar factory and other vendor personnel
  • Provide backup to other Technical Communicators, as needed

Provide technical assistance with EPG (Electric Power Generation) processes and projects that contributes to growth and development

  • Develop close working relationship with Power Systems groups (Technicians, New Sales, Product Support Sales Reps, Rental) to provide technical assistance in support of initiatives
  • Provide technical assistance with special projects
  • Assist with the communication of training/tooling needs
  • Assist with parts stocking on new engines
  • Assist with new product introductions

Effectively improve the performance of both our internal and external technical customer by providing training 

  • Conduct CAT ET, SIS and other technical related software training
  • Conduct product safety training
  • Conduct EPG NPI's and other product trainings

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • Hand coordination (typing and writing)
  • Occasional forward bending and reaching
  • Occasional walking and climbing stairs
  • Carrying (up to 20lbs.)
