SUMMARY

Under the moderate supervision of Sanitation Supervisor, performs intermediate skilled trades work operating heavy equipment in the collection of waste and recyclables, performing equipment inspection and minor repair, performing dump site and landfill maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Drives and operates sanitation collection truck on prescribed route, picking up refuse and transporting to appropriate facilities; drives and operates garbage packer, boom truck, front end loader and other heavy equipment.

Performs pre-trip safety inspections on trucks and heavy equipment; checks fluids, tires, lights, etc.

Operates heavy equipment in the operation and maintenance of the department's facilities; hauls brush and debris.

Performs light preventative and general maintenance on vehicle; cleans and gases vehicle.

Qualifications:

• Moderate experience in street maintenance, including the operation of motorized equipment.
• Valid State Driver's License - CDL Class A or B required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Flagger Certification within one year of hire.
• Required pre-employment screenings include a criminal background check, motor vehicle history, and drug screening.

Starting base rate is $21.37 hr. Rate of pay determined based on experience.
