Part of Hoag Addiction Treatment Centers (HATC), SolMar Recovery is a premier residential addiction treatment program located on Hoag's Newport Beach campus. Our 21-bed residential facility provides evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. As part of a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists, counselors, and behavioral health professionals, you will play a vital role in helping patients build a foundation for lasting recovery.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Licensed Therapist provides comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, care coordination, and discharge planning for patients receiving addiction and behavioral health services. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, the Therapist supports patients and their families throughout the treatment continuum while promoting optimal mental health and long-term recovery.

SolMar: In addition to the above, the Therapist:

  • Facilitates individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Conducts biopsychosocial assessments and develops individualized treatment plans and recovery goals.
  • Provides ongoing clinical support, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services to patients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, counselors, families, and community providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Develops comprehensive discharge and aftercare plans that support successful transition and sustained recovery.
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Participates in case management, utilization reviews, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, and care coordination activities.
  • Educates patients and families regarding treatment options, recovery resources, and community-based support services.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards and ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) or Social Work (MSW) required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in an addiction treatment, behavioral health, hospital, or residential treatment setting required.
  • Experience with clinical assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and case management required.
  • Knowledge of CARF and/or Joint Commission accreditation standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of 12-Step, SMART Recovery, and other recovery-oriented treatment models preferred.
  • Knowledge of Incidental Medical Services (IMS), Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and HIPAA requirements preferred.

License Required

  • LMFT - Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), in good standing, in the State of California or
  • LPCC - Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), in good standing, in the State of California or
  • LCSW - Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), in good standing, in the State of California

Certifications Required

  • BLS – AHA Basic Life Support
