Title: GDU Herdsperson
Description: Responsible for daily care, health, and maintenance for all pigs at designated work areas.
Hours: 7 days a week with flexible hours during the day.

Essential Job Duties:
- Daily pig care includes feeding, watering, and herd health.
- Maintenance routine such as cleaning dryer vents, greasing anchor bearings and other maintenance tasks, as necessary.
- Keeping detailed and accurate health records
- Understanding and following HFI’s biosecurity programs.
- Loading and Unloading animals
- Responsible for alarm calls
- Pressure washing and composting.

- Excellent communication and managerial skills

- Ability to train and motivate staff, and colleagues.
- Proactive and critical thinker with ability to challenge yourself and others.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills with excellent time management skills
- Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
- A passion to acquire an exciting career in the swine industry.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk and be on feet for 8 to 10hrs/day
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, squat and kneel
