Position Summary:

The Training Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for property-wide learning and development at North Fork Mono Casino & Resort. This role evaluates organizational training needs and designs, develops, facilitates, and measures training programs and classes. The Training Manager also coordinates communication for learning initiatives and HR programs and supports Tribal Citizen development through structured career growth, leadership readiness, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. This position partners with property leaders, Human Resources, and subject matter experts to align learning solutions with business priorities, cultural values, Service Standards, compliance requirements, and Team Member development. All responsibilities are performed in accordance with Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Practice, support, and promote North Fork Mono Casino & Resort's culture and consistently demonstrate exemplary Service Standards.
  • Develop and execute a property-wide learning and development strategy aligned with operational priorities, Team Member capability needs, organizational culture, and long-term workforce development goals.
  • Provides strategic leadership for Tribal Citizen Development by designing, administering, and evaluating workforce and leadership development programs that promote career mobility, succession readiness, and meaningful professional growth opportunities for Tribal Citizens.
  • Partner with operational leaders to support succession planning efforts through talent development strategies, readiness assessments, leadership development programs, and defined career pathways that strengthen internal talent pipelines across the property.
  • Lead the assessment of training needs through consultation with leaders, observation, performance and operational data, Team Member feedback, compliance requirements, and other relevant sources.
  • Design, develop, and maintain instructor-led, virtual, blended, and on-the-job training programs and classes, including curricula, learning objectives, facilitator guides, participant materials, presentations, job aids, activities, scenarios, assessments, and reinforcement tools.
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design practices to create practical, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences for Team Members across departments, shifts, experience levels, and learning needs.
  • Design, facilitate, and continuously enhance leadership development programs that build supervisory, management, and executive leadership capabilities while delivering high-impact learning sessions, new hire orientation, workshops, and property-wide classes using discussion, demonstration, practice, scenarios, exercises, coaching, and knowledge checks.
  • Establish training standards and provide coaching, tools, and train-the-trainer support to leaders, subject matter experts, and designated department trainers.
  • Lead property communication for training initiatives, including annual and monthly training calendars, class announcements, enrollment instructions, schedule changes, completion expectations, newsletters, bulletin boards, HR television screens, pre-shift communication and other approved channels.
  • Oversee new hire orientation and property onboarding to support a consistent introduction to culture, Service Standards, workplace expectations, required learning, and available resources.
  • Administer and optimize the learning management system, including course assignments, enrollment, completion tracking, user support, data integrity, reporting, and coordination of required training.
  • Establish measures of training effectiveness and review participation, completion, assessment results, feedback, skill application, and available business indicators to identify improvements and report outcomes to leadership.
  • Manage and maintain the Training Room and coordinate room scheduling and use by other departments.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Training Team Members, facilitators, vendors, or program support resources as assigned; establish priorities, clarify expectations, and monitor work quality and service delivery.
  • Research learning trends, facilitation methods, gaming and hospitality practices, and learning technologies, and recommend appropriate improvements to property programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that staff payroll is completed and approved prior to the close of payroll deadline.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced classroom and virtual facilitation skills, including the ability to guide discussion, manage group dynamics, adapt delivery, and create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, curriculum development, training evaluation, facilitation methods, and learning reinforcement.
  • Ability to translate operational procedures, compliance requirements, cultural priorities, and subject matter expertise into structured, audience-appropriate learning programs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and property communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across departments and organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects, influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and move programs from concept through implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to build relationships with property leaders, subject matter experts, and Team Members.
  • Strong coaching, leadership, organization, project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to use data, feedback, and observation to assess needs, evaluate learning effectiveness, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, presentation and multimedia tools, learning management systems, and related training technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, education, organizational development, instructional design, business, communications, or a related field required; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in learning and development, training facilitation, instructional design, or organizational development, including responsibility for leading programs or projects required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing training curricula and materials, facilitating instructor-led learning, managing learning initiatives, and partnering with leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Experience supporting career development, leadership development, mentorship, succession readiness, or workforce development programs required.
  • Casino, gaming, hospitality, Tribal enterprise, or service-industry experience preferred.
  • Prior experience leading Team Members or facilitators preferred.
  • Professional certification in training, instructional design, human resources, talent development, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission, which includes passing a background investigation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Physical Requirements:

  • All work will be performed on site in Madera, CA.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand and facilitate training sessions for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Manual dexterity to operate job related equipment.

Work Conditions:

Team Members will be in constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests. Work includes the maintenance and care of assigned work area. Work is typically performed in an office environment. However, work may be in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke. Work may be performed in a confined area. Work may be scheduled at various hours, including working overtime, and during evening, weekends, and holidays. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Work is in a high volume, fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
