MIG Welder II Position Summary The MIG Welder II is an experienced welding position responsible for producing high-quality welded components used in lift kits, suspension systems, and related products. This position requires a strong understanding of MIG welding techniques, blueprint reading, dimensional inspection, and established shop welding procedures. MIG Welder II employees will be trained on company-specific welding procedures and visual inspection criteria and are responsible for the quality and accuracy of the welds they produce. This position also serves as a resource to less-experienced welders, including training and mentoring MIG Welder I employees. The MIG Welder II may fill in for the Department or Team Lead as needed and must demonstrate strong safety practices, dependability, productivity, and leadership. Candidates must successfully pass a company weld test and dimensional inspection test. Key Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on components used in lift kits, suspension systems, and related products. Follow established welding procedures, specifications, and visual inspection criteria. Maintain safe work practices by following all company safety procedures and regulations. Work under the direction of the Shift or Team Lead to meet production and quality requirements. Inspect completed welds and take responsibility for the quality and consistency of work performed. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Verify part dimensions against blueprints to ensure proper fitment and product quality. Maintain expected productivity levels while meeting established quality standards. Train and mentor MIG Welder I employees on welding procedures, quality expectations, and safe work practices. Fill in for the Department or Team Lead when needed. Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic upkeep of welding equipment as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow established 5S standards and complete required end-of-shift work-area inspections. Identify and report equipment, quality, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Perform other related duties as assigned. QualificationsQualifications Previous MIG welding experience required. Must successfully pass a company weld test. Must successfully pass a dimensional inspection test. Trade school certificate in welding or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on welding experience will be considered. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand mechanical concepts. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications. Ability to use measuring tools and verify part dimensions and fitment. Working knowledge of weld quality standards and visual inspection criteria. Basic math skills. Strong attention to detail and sound judgment. Good verbal communication and reporting skills. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to train and mentor MIG Welder I employees. Dependable with a strong record of attendance and punctuality. Ability and willingness to learn new skills, processes, and equipment. Ability to maintain required productivity and quality standards. Ability to fill in for the Department or Team Lead as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move approximately 40–60 pounds as required. Ability to stand for the duration of the scheduled shift. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements associated with production welding. Ability to safely operate welding equipment and other tools required for the position. Work Environment This position works in a manufacturing and welding environment and requires adherence to all company safety procedures and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees may be exposed to welding fumes, sparks, heat, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.
