Outpatient Phlebotomist

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team and support patients in our outpatient setting. In this role, you will be an essential part of a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of patient collections, order entry/retrieval, and charting. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in a dynamic setting, bringing both technical expertise and a positive attitude to support our patients.

Priority consideration will be given to applicants with at least 6 months of hospital or clinic phlebotomy experience. Strong blood draw skills are essential, as this role does not include basic phlebotomy training.

Schedule:

  • Full-Time, 40 hr/wk

  • Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday call shift

  • 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Duties: Outpatient Phlebotomist

Responsible for collection and transportation of patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing adhering to department identification policies. Perform, evaluate, and report patient specimens using point-of-care instrumentation. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service. May process and distribute patient specimen for clinical laboratory testing.

Required Qualifications: Outpatient Phlebotomist

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.

  • High school education or equivalent required.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills required.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.

  • Computer experience required.

  • Attention to detail required.

  • Ability to multitask required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Preferred Qualifications: Outpatient Phlebotomist

  • Direct patient care experience or completion of a phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.

  • Phlebotomy certification PBT (ASCP) preferred.
