About this Opportunity

As a Portfolio Specialist, you are responsible for executing trade orders on all Brinker Capital client accounts and managing the product portfolios to be aligned to the models provided by the Investment team. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. As we continue to evolve and live our Orion values, we are looking for someone to grow with us.

It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work as a Hybrid employee, with three (3) or more days each week required on-site at one of the listed office locations.

 

Candidates should be located within a commutable distance to an office. Internal candidates currently aligned to an Orion office location may be given preference; however, internal candidates with varying work arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

In this role, you'll get to:

  • Execute trade orders for Brinker Capital client accounts

  • Monitor market conditions and make real-time decisions to achieve best execution for trades, considering factors like liquidity, market impact, and transaction costs

  • Develop and maintain relationships with third party money managers, security dealers and custodian banks

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and individual securities to identify potential investment opportunities and risks

  • Stay informed about regulatory changes, market developments, and industry trends that may impact trading decisions

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect portfolio value during market downturns

  • Conduct account maintenance trading which includes contributions, withdrawals, etc.  

  • Invest new client accounts to the 3rd party model or discretionary model  

  • Monitor portfolio drift across client accounts to ensure adherence to model portfolio

  • Rebalance client accounts according to rebalance protocol or discretionary asset allocation changes. 

  • Execute Brinker’s Investment team’s instructions regarding portfolio changes in a timely and effective manner

  • Prepare and present performance reports for investment portfolios, including trade summaries, transaction costs, and portfolio attribution analysis

  • Collaborate with reporting teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting to internal stakeholders and clients

  • Build an expert knowledge of the team's modeling and order creation system  

  • Produce various internal reports relating to orders on a timely and accurate basis  

  • Maintain industry knowledge and keeps abreast of current market conditions

  • Source liquidity for illiquid securities

  • Adhere to all relevant regulatory guidelines and internal compliance policies while executing trades and managing portfolios

  • Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements

We're looking for talent who has:

  • Proven experience in trading and portfolio management within an asset management firm or a financial institution

  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management principles

  • Proficiency in using trading platforms, order management systems, and financial analysis tools

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions

  • Effective communication and presentation skills to convey investment ideas and portfolio updates

  • Knowledge of trading methods and strategies required

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related financial field, required

  • This position requires a Series 65 license or both Series 7 and 66 licenses. If the required license(s) are not held at the time of hire, they must be obtained within 90 days of the start date. Failure to obtain the required license(s) within the applicable timeframe may result in reassignment to another role, if available, or termination of employment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the financial services industry

  • Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
