Role Summary
Â
The Shipping Clerk position coordinates and documents the safe and timely movement of hazardous waste out of the transfer station while maintaining accurate inventory and DOT/ EPA regulatory shipping records. This role will work cooperatively with the facility operations to ensure outbound waste is managed in accordance with operational management plans.

Job Duties
Â
• Review outgoing hazardous-waste manifests, bills of lading, shipping papers, waste profiles and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Enter shipment, container, customer, transporter and destination information into the facility tracking system.
• Track each shipment’s arrival date and storage time to ensure waste leaves the facility within the applicable 10-day holding period.
• Maintain an accurate daily inventory of drums, totes and other containers by waste stream, location and shipment status.
• Verify container counts, identification numbers, weights, descriptions and waste codes against shipping documents.
• Confirm that shipments are assigned to approved transporters and designated receiving facilities.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with dispatchers, drivers, customers, operations staff and disposal or recycling facilities.
• Prepare outgoing paperwork and assemble driver document packages.
• Document transfers between transporters and obtain required signatures and dates on manifests.
• Communicate loading priorities and shipment requirements to warehouse and forklift personnel.
• Perform general clerical duties, including scanning, filing, emailing documents, answering calls and preparing reports.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 to 3 years of shipping hazardous waste strongly preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of warehouse experience preferred but not required.
• Strong leadership skills, oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Sound problem solving ability is a must.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Track & report all customer variances in real-time.
• Computer skills and knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs.
• Oversee accurate and timely generation of shipping documents and logs.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and reach.
• Professional phone etiquette and ability to relay technical information between departments.
