Crane Operator

Valtir is hiring a dependable Crane Operator to support material movement and production flow in our galvanizing and guardrail manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for safe crane operation, rigging, and handling steel components throughout the Orangeburg, SC facility.

FULLTIME

1st Shift: Monday-Friday 5:00 AM-1:30PM

 Pay: $19.00 - $21.00

 
Job Duties Include, but not limited to:

• Operate overhead and gantry cranes to move steel, guardrail components, and finished galvanized products.
• Perform rigging using slings, chains, shackles, and other below-the-hook devices.
• Complete required crane inspections and follow all OSHA safety standards.
• Support galvanizing operations by positioning material into racks, jigs, and dip frames.
• Coordinate lifts with production timing, kettle cycles, and cooling processes.
• Hang, unhang, stack, band, and stage product according to specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all plant safety procedures and 5S activities.
• Perform additional production or material-handling duties as needed.
• Load/unload/move steel ranging from 5lbs – 75lbs by hand continuously throughout shift 
• Maintain efficient production in the department
• Check tools and equipment in observance of safety regulations

Working Environment:

• Conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, and noisy.
• The job is within a fast paced, heavy industrial environment and you may be required to work within various areas of the plant.
• Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures / guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes safety wear such as hearing and eye protection, protective clothing and steel-toed shoes.
• Attendance and showing up to work on time are important to the success of the plant.  Dependable job attendance is expected.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of industrial experience or heavy-manufacturing 
• Ability to lift steel parts 5lbs - 120lbs 
• Reliable and predictable attendance
• Experience operating overhead/gantry cranes in a production environment.
• Basic rigging knowledge and ability to read work orders or blueprints.
• Ability to perform all essential functions safely and efficiently
• Preferred: Overhead crane experience, forklift experience, powder coating, nickel plating or galvanizing-facility experience.
