Accountant
Position Summary
Â
The Accountant will support the Corporate Controller and broader Accounting and Finance organization in maintaining accurate financial records, executing a timely and disciplined monthly close, strengthening balance-sheet controls, and supporting UMAC's continued growth as a public manufacturing company.
Â
This role should be hands-on and execution-oriented, with broad exposure to general ledger accounting, reconciliations, inventory, intercompany activity, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, audit support, and NetSuite. The Accountant will work closely with Accounting & Finance and operating teams to ensure transactions are recorded accurately at the source and supported by appropriate documentation
Â
What You'll Do
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and supporting schedules.
- Own assigned balance-sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items timely.
- Maintain accounting records for cash, AP, AR, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, intercompany, inventory, and other assigned accounts.
- Support inventory-to-GL reconciliations and investigate differences between physical inventory, operational systems, and NetSuite.
- Assist the Cost Accountant with inventory adjustments, cycle counts, physical inventories, E&O analysis, landed cost, and manufacturing-related reconciliations.
- Prepare recurring and nonrecurring journal entries with complete, audit-ready support.
- Support intercompany accounting and reconciliation across UMAC entities.
- Assist with fixed-asset additions, disposals, depreciation, and CIP.
- Support external audit and quarterly-review requests and maintain organized supporting documentation.
- Follow and help strengthen accounting policies, SOPs, close checklists, and internal controls.
- Support NetSuite optimization, including testing, master-data validation, reporting, and workflow/process improvements.
- Identify recurring manual activities and opportunities for standardization and automation.
- Partner with AP, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Engineering, and other functions to resolve accounting exceptions at their source.
- Support acquisition integration and other Finance projects as UMAC grows.
- Perform other accounting and financial analysis as required in a scaling organization.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Â 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong foundation in accrual accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Manufacturing, electronics, aerospace/defense, hardware, distribution, or other inventory-intensive experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite strongly preferred.
- Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes rather than simply record adjustments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet close and reporting deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, rapidly growing environment where processes continue to evolve.
What Will Make You Successful
You are someone who enjoys understanding how the business works, not simply record transactions. You can trace an accounting discrepancy from the underlying business activity through the ERP and ultimately to the financial statements. You ask thoughtful questions, maintain high documentation standards, and work collaboratively to solve the underlying issue rather than repeatedly correcting the accounting after the fact.
Â
Compensation – $85,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus equity participation and benefits in accordance with the Company's compensation programs
Â
Benefits
- Equity is included for all exempt positions
