Nurse Resident, Acute Care (Multisystem PCU)

Location: Orlando Regional Medical Center, Downtown Orlando, Florida
Shift: Nights (3/ 12 hour shifts, rotating weekends)

Position Summary

The Nurse Resident provides direct patient care in an acute care hospital environment while participating in Orlando Health's Nurse Residency Program. This position is designed for newly licensed registered nurses and nurses with less than one year of professional RN experience.

Under the guidance of experienced nurses, clinical leaders, and preceptors, Nurse Residents develop critical thinking skills, strengthen clinical competencies, and provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based patient care to diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in an acute care hospital setting under the supervision of a preceptor, charge nurse, and nursing leadership team.
  • Assess patient needs and assist in developing and implementing individualized plans of care.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and communicate changes in patient conditions to the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to physician orders and established nursing standards.
  • Document patient assessments, care provided, and clinical outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Promote patient safety through adherence to evidence-based nursing practices and organizational standards.
  • Advocate for patients and families while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and the use of patient care equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based activities.
  • Attend nurse residency classes, educational sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Build clinical judgment, critical thinking, and leadership skills through the Nurse Residency Program.
  • Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 


Qualifications

 

Qualifications

Education

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure & Certification

- Current Florida Registered Nurse license or valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license.

- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

- Additional certifications including ACLS, PALS, NRP, or TNCC may be required based on department assignment.

Experience

- Newly licensed Registered Nurse or less than one year of professional RN experience.

- Clinical rotations in an acute care setting preferred.
