As a leader in calcium-based fertilizers, we manufacture 98G pelletized limestone and SO4 pelletized gypsum for a wide network of ag retailers across the Midwest. As we continue to invest in our Iowa facilities, we are also expanding our footprint with new locations, including a new plant in Blair, Nebraska. To support this long-term growth, we are now recruiting a Leadman-Night Shift position for the Blair facility.


Position Summary & Purpose

The lead person is responsible for providing work directions to their team members to accomplish the goals set by the Location Supervisor. This includes communication of goals, assigning tasks, follow-up, and on time completion. Direction and actions will be consistent with the priorities of safety 1st, quality 2nd and production 3rd. This person should develop a sense of dependability and responsibility among their team members, operate with enthusiasm and lead by example. As with any business, circumstances may change. This document may be modified from time to time to reflect these changes.

Responsibilities and Tasks

· Effectively communicate with the Location Supervisor and the team members. · Organize and supervise team members to accomplish the goals/objectives set by the Location Supervisor

· Inspect work area and equipment to maintain a safe and efficient workspace. Report deficiencies to Location Supervisor.

· Monitor product quality. Identify problems or concerns.

· Monitor and meet or exceed production goals by working with team members.

· Collaborating with the Location Supervisor to

· Create and maintain the maintenance work list.

· Requisition parts and tools needed for the tasks.

· Plan downtime to address maintenance issues.

· Minimize downtime through effective training, supervising and coaching of team members. Remember, safety is our 1st priority.

· Participate in employee reviews.

· Perform/supervise routine maintenance

· Other duties or tasks assigned by management.

· Will not directly administer employee discipline. This will be handled by Location Supervisor and VP of Operations


Education and Experience:

· Knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a high school education or the equivalent with additional training preferred through a vocational school. 

· Two years’ work experience with Calcium Products or a manufacturing or mining company. Supervisory experience and maintenance experience preferred. 

· Proven track record of attention to safe operation practices and working conditions. 

· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability. 

· Willingness to serve as “team leader”, performing service repairs and maintenance work as departmental workload requires. Individuals work for the mutual benefit of the team, seeking agreement and new solutions whenever possible. 

· Demonstrates strong communication skills; actively listening to employees and responding promptly, thoroughly and professionally to employees and management input. 

· Acts as coach and mentor, taking the time to educate and inform staff. Recognizes good performance and provides feedback to improve performance in positive and constructive manner. 

· Can identify problems and exhibit good problem-solving skills following appropriate policies and procedures. 

· Can project professionalism with all groups, including personal appearance along with friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates, dealers and customers.
