POSITION DESCRIPTION
Perform a variety of duties and tasks related to food preparation under the direct supervision of the Building Manager or their designee. Posses the ability to work with co-workers including student employees. Interact with customers in a welcoming and knowledgeable manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for cold food preparation including fresh vegetables and fruits, salads, slice meats and cheese, sandwich spreads, and desserts. Prepare all condiments and other foods (i.e. bagels) for service.
- Assist in the preparation of all foods, including meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, and other food for serving.
- Set up and maintain service areas (i.e. salad bar), replenish as needed during the meal, maintaining a fresh appearance.
- Assist cooks as necessary.
- Clean tables, work and service areas, pans and dishes. Maintain clean and sanitary work and service areas.Â
- Stock serving area with needed foods, condiments, and paper supplies for meal service.
- Wash pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment when required.
- Assist on dish machine as needed and/or directed.
- Assist in the guidance of student workers in the performance of their duties.
- Maintain production records as needed.
- Suggest new menu items and recipe revisions.
- Maintain appearance and hygiene within stated Auxiliary Services and health department guidelines.
- Perform duties in accordance with established safety practices.
- Perform other similar or related tasks.
Requirements
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated understanding of weights and measures.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in commercial food preparation.
