Job Description:

The Senior Specialist, Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product and process quality across engineering development programs from proposal and baselining through qualification, manufacturing, and initial production. This role develops and implements quality standards, methods, and procedures to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and customer requirements. The position supports detailed requirements review, program quality planning, cost account management, test development, and manufacturing activities in an aerospace electronics environment. This role also leads nonconformance analysis, corrective action, Material Review Board (MRB), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and customer and supplier quality interfaces.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Design, develop, and implement quality standards, methods, and procedures for inspection, test, and evaluation of products and processes.
  • Review contractual, customer, regulatory, and engineering requirements and ensure appropriate flow down into program, test, and manufacturing activities.
  • Support proposals, program baselining, and planning activities with consideration for cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Perform program quality cost account management for assigned areas.
  • Support test development, qualification, and manufacturing of engineering development units and initial production units.
  • Analyze nonconformities and discrepancies, investigate root cause, develop dispositions, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead or support Material Review Board (MRB), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), root cause corrective action (RCCA), and continuous improvement activities.
  • Review and approve quality-related engineering and manufacturing documentation, including drawings, work instructions, inspection plans, and test documentation.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, test, and program teams to ensure requirements are met.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits to drive compliance to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Ability to obtain US Government clearance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance in the aerospace, defense, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), or similar regulated industry.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting contractual, customer, and engineering requirements.
  • Experience supporting engineering development, qualification, and manufacturing activities.
  • Experience with nonconformance analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action.
  • Experience communicating with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization 9001 (ISO9001), Aerospace Standard 9100 (AS9100), and associated industry standards.
  • Experience with data analytics and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience supporting proposals and program baselining activities.
  • Experience performing control account management or program quality cost account management.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Zero Defect Plan (ZDP), Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification.
