About the Role:

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products throughout the warehouse and production areas. The Material Handler ensures that all materials are handled safely and accurately, supporting production schedules and minimizing downtime. By maintaining organized inventory and utilizing warehouse management systems, this role contributes to overall operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be integral in supporting shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely order fulfillment and accurate documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret bar codes and use warehouse management systems.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with assembly line operations.
  • Certification in forklift operation or other material handling equipment.
  • Experience working with computerized inventory control systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks to move materials safely and efficiently.
  • Perform order picking and packing duties accurately to prepare shipments for delivery.
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and properly store materials in designated locations.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems and bar code scanners to track inventory and update records in real time.
  • Assist with assembly line support by delivering materials and components as needed to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Work overtime as required to meet production deadlines and shipping schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and compliance with company policies.

Skills:

The required skills such as operating material handling equipment and using pallet jacks and hand trucks are essential for moving materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility. Proficiency in order picking and shipping/receiving ensures accurate fulfillment of customer orders and smooth inventory flow. Familiarity with bar code scanning and warehouse management systems allows for precise tracking and documentation of materials, reducing errors and improving inventory accuracy. The ability to work overtime demonstrates flexibility and commitment to meeting production demands.
