The Applications Engineer I supports the sales and engineering teams by assisting with equipment selection, application engineering, technical proposal development, and customer support activities. This role serves as a key liaison between sales, customers, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement while developing expertise in wastewater treatment processes and Komline Sanderson products. The successful candidate will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to independently manage application opportunities and contribute to business growth.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with application engineering activities, equipment sizing, and preliminary system cost estimates for municipal and industrial wastewater projects.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and bid documents to identify project requirements and support proposal development.
  • Support the evaluation of customer needs and assist in selecting appropriate equipment solutions under the guidance of senior Applications Engineers.
  • Prepare technical proposals, equipment data sheets, specifications, and customer submittals.
  • Coordinate with procurement, vendors, and suppliers to obtain pricing and technical information for ancillary equipment and system components.
  • Maintain accurate project and opportunity information within Salesforce CRM.
  • Support order handoff activities by ensuring technical documentation is complete and accurately transferred to engineering and operations teams.
  • Respond to routine technical inquiries from customers, sales representatives, and channel partners.
  • Develop working knowledge of Komline Sanderson products, applications, and competitive offerings.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining sales tools, technical presentations, competitive analyses, specifications, and proposal templates.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Participate in customer visits, training programs, and industry events as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 1 - 4 years of engineering, manufacturing, process equipment, wastewater, technical sales support, or related experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability and willingness to learn wastewater treatment processes, equipment applications, and industry standards.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 15%.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering design software.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, project specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to municipal wastewater, industrial water treatment, process equipment, pumps, conveyors, or related industrial equipment.
  • Experience using CRM and ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, D365, or similar).
  • Customer-facing experience gained through engineering, project management, technical support, or sales support roles.
  • Familiarity with industrial manufacturing environments and engineered equipment solutions
