Primary Function
The Tax Intern is a professional responsible for learning, developing and applying their technical skills in accounting, individual tax returns, monthly bookkeeping and payroll taxes. A collaborative function includes working as part of a team to carry out tasks under close mentoring and supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Job duties require proficient abilities in the following areas:
- Develops an understanding of the business and the Intern role
- Follows Company processes and procedures
- Understands the rules, regulations and Code of Professional Conduct of the AICPA
- Works as an effective staff member to complete components and assigned tasks
- Preparing payroll tax returns, W-2s and 1099s
- Preparing individual tax returns
- Participates in firm wide initiatives - recruiting, staff celebration events, etc.
Required Skills
Required skill sets to be successful in this position include:
- Strong communication skills and cooperative team player
- Effectively multi-task
- Initiative to take adequate steps to succeed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Required Qualifications
Qualifications and experience includes:
- Actively working towards a 4-year accounting degree
- Completed or currently enrolled in Tax I course
- Minimum 3.25 GPA
- Developing technical knowledge in college/university course work
