Locally owned and multi-award winning Certified Public Accounting firm, Elliott, Robinson & Company, is pleased to announce a paid position for a Tax Intern.

 

Here you will be challenged with accounting problems that do not come out of a textbook. The work is exciting and stimulating while gaining invaluable experience.


Primary Function

The Tax Intern is a professional responsible for learning, developing and applying their technical skills in accounting, individual tax returns, monthly bookkeeping and payroll taxes. A collaborative function includes working as part of a team to carry out tasks under close mentoring and supervision.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Job duties require proficient abilities in the following areas:

  • Develops an understanding of the business and the Intern role
  • Follows Company processes and procedures
  • Understands the rules, regulations and Code of Professional Conduct of the AICPA
  • Works as an effective staff member to complete components and assigned tasks
  • Preparing payroll tax returns, W-2s and 1099s
  • Preparing individual tax returns
  • Participates in firm wide initiatives - recruiting, staff celebration events, etc.


Required Skills

Required skill sets to be successful in this position include:

  • Strong communication skills and cooperative team player
  • Effectively multi-task
  • Initiative to take adequate steps to succeed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products


Required Qualifications

Qualifications and experience includes:

  • Actively working towards a 4-year accounting degree
  • Completed or currently enrolled in Tax I course
  • Minimum 3.25 GPA
  • Developing technical knowledge in college/university course work
