This position partners closely with the Senior Manager of Construction Services to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of industrial construction projects while driving operational excellence, workforce development, quality performance, and customer satisfaction. The Deputy Construction Manager serves as a key leader within the Construction Services organization, providing guidance to field leaders and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project execution and operational performance. The ideal candidate possesses extensive industrial construction experience, strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Construction Operations & Project Execution Assist in planning, coordinating, and managing all phases of industrial construction projects. Support the execution of projects to ensure safety, quality, productivity, schedule, and profitability objectives are achieved. Coordinate daily field operations to maintain efficient workflow and resource utilization. Monitor project schedules and work with field leadership to identify opportunities for improved performance. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards, and contractual requirements. Assist in developing recovery plans when productivity or schedule challenges arise. Support project startup, execution, closeout, and lessons-learned activities. Leadership & Workforce Development Provide leadership and direction to field superintendents, supervisors, foremen, and craft personnel. Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards. Conduct performance discussions and provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities. Assist with hiring, workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives. Support the development of future field leaders through training and delegation of responsibilities. Promote teamwork, communication, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Safety Leadership Promote and enforce ProcessBarron's safety culture on all projects. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer-specific requirements, and company policies. Participate in incident investigations and corrective action development. Conduct field observations and support job hazard analysis activities. Lead by example and foster a zero-incident safety culture. Hold project personnel accountable for safe work practices and behaviors. Quality Assurance & Field Support Ensure construction activities meet project specifications, quality requirements, and customer expectations. Coordinate inspections and testing activities with the Field Service Quality Control Manager. Resolve field quality issues through collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations personnel. Support project teams by ensuring current drawings, procedures, and documentation are available within CrewConX and other project management systems. Monitor project execution to minimize rework and improve construction quality. Financial & Operational Performance Monitor labor utilization, productivity, and workforce allocation across active projects. Support project budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives. Review project performance metrics and identify opportunities for operational improvement. Assist in forecasting manpower needs and resource requirements. Identify risks that could impact project performance and develop corrective actions. Participate in project reviews and post-project evaluations to improve future execution and profitability. Client & Stakeholder Relationships Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Participate in customer meetings and provide project status updates. Assist in resolving field issues promptly and professionally. Support customer satisfaction initiatives and promote long-term business relationships. Serve as a representative of ProcessBarron when interacting with customers and project stakeholders. Documentation & Reporting Review daily reports, field documentation, schedules, and progress records. Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with company standards. Support contractual reporting requirements and project communication processes. Assist in preparing project performance reports and operational metrics. Qualifications Education Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field. Acceptable Alternative: Equivalent combination of education and relevant industrial construction experience. Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in industrial construction, field operations, maintenance, outage management, or related disciplines. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience leading construction teams, field personnel, superintendents, or craft labor. Experience planning and coordinating labor, resources, and field execution activities. Experience managing multiple priorities in fast-paced industrial environments. Preferred Experience supporting large industrial facilities such as: Power Generation Pulp & Paper Steel Mills Cement Plants Chemical Facilities Biomass Facilities Mining Operations Heavy Manufacturing Environments Experience leading outage, turnaround, shutdown, or capital construction projects. Experience with mechanical construction, equipment installation, material handling systems, fans, ductwork, air pollution control equipment, or related industrial systems. Preferred Certifications OSHA 30 Certification First Aid / CPR Certification Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, practices, and sequencing. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety requirements. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts. Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to develop strong working relationships with customers and employees. Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
