This role is hybrid out of Pennsauken, NJ.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Tax and Grant Analyst will support ongoing tax compliance activities and provide financial and compliance oversight to donations and grants received by BAYADA Home Health Care. The position will support pre- and post grant activities, which include research, application, accounting, and analysis. This person will develop in-depth knowledge of various federal, state, local, and private programs, providing consultation and support to the various  businesses within BAYADA. The person will also support nonprofit and tax compliance activities, including the preparation of annual filings submitted to the IRS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exemplifies characteristics of The BAYADA Way: compassion, excellence and reliability.
  • Four (4) year college degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of public accounting or related industry experience.
  • Prior nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) applications and ability to learn various software applications (i.e. Workday).
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of confidentiality and attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate and communicate the core values of BAYADA and The BAYADA Way.
  • Develop working knowledge of BAYADA’s mission, services, people, organization, policies and procedures.
  • Build trust and rapport with colleagues across the organization, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Support the discovery of new grant opportunities administered by Federal, State, Local, and Private Payors.
  • Research the reporting requirements of grant opportunities; gauge the anticipated effort needed to maintain/produce such reports.
  • Collaborate internally and, if needed, externally to determine the compliance implications of grants and donations.
  • Support the grant application process, conducting analysis and/or furnishing related documentation upon request.
  • Determine the permissible use of awarded dollars within the confines of the grant agreement. Cascade this information to business leaders, providing consultation as specific questions/scenarios may arise.
  • Assist in creating grant-specific budgets, ensuring adherence to the award’s requirements.
  • Manage the record of grant expenses, ensuring related expenditures are captured appropriately in the general ledger.
  • Record journal entries to attach or remove dollars against applicable grants, as the underlying grant agreement requires.
  • Oversee the refinement of processes tied to tracking grant receipts/disbursements, minimizing the need for manual intervention.
  • Monitor grant-specific spending against the established budget, distributing periodic reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Initiate dialogue with operational personnel regarding any misalignment of actual grant expenditures and budgeted amounts. Assist in implementing corrective action as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for determining the permissibility of spend requests not detailed in the original grant budget.
  • Perform quarterly general ledger account reconciliations of fund balances.
  • Prepare and submit funder-required reports, including related invoices and substantiation, in advance of the funder deadlines.
  • Compile quarterly summary of grant and donation efforts to be used in communication to executive management and the board of directors.
  • Support the annual Single Audit engagement and funder-initiated audits.
  • Assist in preparing nonprofit and tax annual filings with the IRS and State Revenue agencies.
  • Submit annual charitable registrations across all states in which we look to solicit donations.
  • Renew applicable sales tax exemptions as needed; review transaction-level activity to ensure the exemption’s consistent, compliant application.
  • Develop metrics to report BAYADA’s contribution to the broader community. Work with appropriate personnel to capture such operational data more accurately.
  • Demonstrate solid performance or exceed performance standards in key job dimensions/attributes as defined on the Performance Appraisal for Office Staff.
  • Perform related duties, or as required or requested by supervisor.
