About the Role:

We are adding a Lead Carpenter to lead and support field operations by managing crews and performing all aspects of carpentry on water and wastewater construction projects. This role is responsible for rough carpentry, formwork, rebar installation, and concrete placement, while overseeing a small team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred 
  • Minimum of 3 years of construction experience 
  • At least 2 years of experience specializing in carpentry 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications 
  • Experience leading crews or small teams 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in water or wastewater construction 
  • Experience leading carpentry or concrete crews 
  • Strong background in formwork, rebar, and concrete placement 
  • Experience coordinating work with multiple trades 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise carpentry crews, typically up to 4 team members 
  • Perform hands-on carpentry work alongside crews 
  • Read and interpret drawings and rebar plans to guide installations 
  • Lead rebar installation, including cutting, bending, and securing materials 
  • Perform and oversee rough carpentry including framing, temporary structures, and structural components 
  • Lead formwork installation for slabs, walls, columns, and other structures 
  • Coordinate and execute concrete placement and curing processes 
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment safely and effectively 
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and meets quality and safety standards 
  • Coordinate with team members, subcontractors, and project staff 

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and ability to manage and motivate crews 
  • Advanced knowledge of carpentry, formwork, rebar, and concrete operations 
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans 
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality workmanship 
  • Clear communication with field teams and project staff 
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt in the field 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time 
  • Frequent use of hands to handle tools and materials 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs 
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at varying heights 
  • Ability to bend, squat, and perform repetitive physical tasks 
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
