Sudden Service, INC (SSI) is a subsidiary of the Taylor Group of Companies, a third-generation family-owned business based in Louisville, MS since 1927. Job Summary: A buyer for Taylor Sudden Service reports directly to the Materials Manager. A professional relationship with suppliers is critical. The incumbent must expedite delivery on emergency and regular back orders in very timely manner to accommodate the customer’s needs. It is the buyer’s responsibility to take calls and answer all emails from inside sales reps, and warehouses concerning pricing and availability on parts desired by customer. Multitasking is essential while striving to meet a challenging workflow. Duties/Responsibilities: Generates purchase orders daily to maintain adequate inventory levels. Keeps EOQ’s and reorder points updated. Monitors daily incoming parts shipments. Expedites delivery of emergency or back-order items to accommodate customer. Tracks orders on the internet. Works with the Accounting Department on invoicing errors. Works with the Engineering Department when parts are obsoleted, or problems arise that require additional information. Meets with suppliers to go over pricing, availability, and overall needs. Keeps dates current on backordered parts so sales reps, dealers and others can know when to expect parts. Refers to prints and parts catalog as needed. Works to make sure we are getting the very best pricing on parts. Keeps pricing on parts current and updated. Inform Materials Manager of problems that may arise. Assist in answering phones and other buyers as needed. All other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities: Professional verbal and written communication skills a must. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must have excellent computer skills and be able to work with Excel and other programs as needed. Organizational skills needed to monitor purchase orders and multiple vendors. General knowledge of the Taylor Parts System would be preferred. Education and Experience: High school graduate or GED equivalent.
