The Wistar Institute has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Brian Fuglestad as part of the Center for Advanced Therapeutics. The Fuglestad lab is interested in expanding molecular study of peripheral membrane proteins and enabling new strategies in drug development for this difficult category of protein. Their approach is rooted in detailed structural and biophysical investigation of fundamental protein function, information that is used to better understand peripheral membrane proteins as drug targets and to guide inhibitor design efforts. Their new approach opens a wide range of proteins and diseases to new therapeutic potential.

We are seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to advance initial screening hits to active chemical probes for protein activity and towards drug leads. The project will involve iterative synthesis and testing of inhibitor analogs to achieve inhibition of peripheral membrane protein targets and potentially screening novel targets. The successful candidate will have experience with synthetic or medicinal chemistry, with a strong preference for candidates who also have experience with biophysical or biochemical protein assays.

A PhD in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or related fields is required. Candidates should have at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication. In addition to the online application, interested individuals should apply by submitting a CV, one-page cover letter outlining their scientific interest in the lab and career goals, as well as names and contact information for at least 3 references to Dr. Brian Fuglestad (bfuglestad@wistar.org).

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
