American Express is seeking a high-performing Business Development Representative to join our Middle Market team. In this role, you will drive growth for identifying, qualifying, and converting prospective clients into high-quality sales opportunities.

 

This is a performance-driven role focused on pipeline creation, outbound prospecting, and strategic engagement with decision-makers across mid-sized businesses. The ideal candidate is competitive, metrics-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where results are recognized.

 

 

As part of the Middle Market Field team, you'll represent one of the world's most trusted brands, partnering with dynamic, growing businesses to help them succeed. Responsibilities

 

  • Proactively identify and engage mid-market prospects through outbound channels (cold calls, email, social selling) 

  • Qualify leads to assess fit, need, and buying readiness 

  • Schedule high-quality meetings and product demonstrations for Account Executives 

  • Orchestrate discussions around business needs with senior leaders for prospective customers

  • Strategize and work with top-producing Account Executives

  • Build and manage a consistent pipeline of opportunities aligned to revenue targets 

  • Leverage CRM tools to maintain accurate activity tracking and pipeline data 

  • Collaborate closely with sales and marketing to refine messaging and targeting strategies 

  • Consistently meet or exceed key performance metrics including meetings booked, pipeline generated, and conversion rates 

Qualifications

 

  • 1–3+ years of experience in sales, business development, or lead generation (B2B preferred) 

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota in a metrics-driven environment 

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and objection-handling skills, particularly via phone and virtual meetings

  • Demonstrated success in pipeline creation and opportunity generation 

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple prospects and priorities 

  • Competitive mindset with a drive to outperform peers and achieve top rankings 

  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and sales engagement platforms
