Description

Mountain West Consulting is hiring a Project Scheduler to own the CPM schedules behind our utility, municipal, and energy construction work across the Phoenix Metro and Southwest US Area.

You'll build and maintain baselines in Primavera P6, track physical progress against installed quantities, and give project managers the early warning they need to keep critical path work moving. Our projects include utility infrastructure for owners; municipal capital improvement programs; and power generation and energy-sector mechanical construction.

This is a project controls role, not a field supervision role. You'll spend your time in the schedule and in front of stakeholders not running crews.

**Hybrid schedule.** Phoenix office as a home base, with the flexibility to work remotely. Periodic jobsite visits to verify progress firsthand.

What You'll Do

- Develop, baseline, and maintain detailed CPM schedules in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project

- Build schedules that conform to owner schedule specifications and contract requirements

- Run monthly and weekly updates; track physical percent complete by installed quantities

- Analyze trends, identify critical path and near-critical bottlenecks, and quantify float erosion

- Flag schedule risk early, communicate it clearly, and work with PMs to build recovery plans

- Produce look-ahead, variance, progress, and milestone reports that drive real decisions

- Prepare status presentations covering accomplishments, risks, and pending changes

- Support cost- and resource-loaded scheduling and project controls reporting

- Maintain schedule documentation and support change order and time impact substantiation

- Partner with project managers, project controls managers, and field teams to keep schedule data accurate

- Build credible working relationships with clients, owners, subcontractors, and stakeholder

Requirements

Required

- 3-5 years in project scheduling or project controls on construction projects

- Hands-on Primavera P6 proficiency building baselines, not just updating someone else's file

- Working knowledge of CPM logic, float, and critical path analysis

- Experience scheduling to an owner's schedule specification

- Experience in cost planning and project-controls reporting interfaces

- Strong written and verbal communication with field staff, PMs, and client stakeholders

- Ability to prioritize across multiple concurrent projects and work independently

- Valid driver's license and a record that is insurable under company policy

- Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening

Preferred

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field

- Experience with utility, municipal CIP, power generation, or energy-sector construction

- Cost- and resource-loaded scheduling experience

- Exposure to time impact analysis or delay claims support

- PMI-SP, PSP, or PMP certification

Don't check every box? If you're strong in P6 and CPM fundamentals, we'd still like to hear from you.
