Job Overview:

We are searching for a Cost Accountant who will work closely with the Site Controller in providing accounting support for cost accounting, forecasting, margin reviews and fluctuation analysis, and SOX controls. The Cost Accountant will also assist with general ledger transactions and account reconciliations. This individual must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment.

Responsibilities:

· Perform reporting activities throughout the month on margins, absorption and other metrics to ensure accuracy of the financials

· Prepare fluctuation and variance analysis

· Assist with forecasting

· Analyze production and operational costs, identifying variances and trends (FOH, VOH)

· Prepare cost reports for management

· Support inventory valuation, cycle counts, and audits – understand the mechanics of WIP, E&O, Finished Goods, and inventory turns.

· Partner with operations, supply chain, HR, and sales on accounting matters

· Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations required for the monthly close

· Ensure proper classification of expenses and adherence to accounting policies

· Complete monthly consolidation load (trial balance, supplemental forms, etc.)

· Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors

· Ensure compliance with SOX or internal control requirements

· Support system implementations or upgrades

· Comfortable interacting with operations and translating financial performance to operational insight

· Prepare ad hoc analysis

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows

· Additional Staff Accounting duties, as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

· 3+ years’ experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment

· Proficient with the use of ERP systems (EPICOR is highly preferred)

· Proficient with the use of Power BI, Tableau, and other data analysis tools

· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
