Job description:

Position Title: Instrument Operator

Position Reports To: Crew Chief/Director of Survey

  • Responsibilities: To work as part of a two or three man crew to conduct field surveys for the purpose of collecting information to facilitate design (roadway reconstruction, bridge enhancements, oil and gas drilling sites, oil and gas pipelines, etc.). An Instrument Operator carries equipment to the job site, sets up and adjusts surveying instruments, collects data, prepares notes and makes field sketches
  • Skills: The Instrument Operator works as part of a crew under the direction of a crew chief. The Operator must be able to take direction and follow instructions often given in a noisy environment (i.e. near active highways/bridges).

**Bonus if an Operator must understand the basics of surveying, be able to run the instrument and run rods for benches and cross-section elevations

Requirements - An Instrument Operator must be physically able to complete all tasks associated with the position. 

An Operator is required to:

o Lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
o Carry and set up survey equipment over rugged terrain (uneven ground, in and around bodies of water, up and down hill sides, in heavily wooded areas, over significant distances)
o Work outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme cold (below 32 F) and extreme heat (above 90 F)
o Work with sharp tools cutting and clearing brush.
o Work around traffic with proper safety controls
o Climb fences
o Work at heights above grade.

Full-time position with competitive wages and a complete benefit package. Work will take place in PA, but candidate must be willing to travel M-F (always home for weekends).
