 In this position, you will be responsible for painting, finishing, drywall repair, and surface preparation throughout residential and program facilities. This position helps maintain buildings in a safe, attractive, and functional condition while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and safety standards.


   

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare, repair, and paint interior and exterior surfaces using paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes.
  • Perform drywall installation, patching, repair, and finishing.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, caulking, and patching as needed.
  • Match and mix paints and finishes to achieve desired results.
  • Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment, including sprayers, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
  • Protect furniture, fixtures, flooring, and equipment during projects.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations, SDS requirements, and all safety procedures.
  • Safely handle and dispose of paints, solvents, and related materials.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain inventory of paint, supplies, and equipment.
  • Refinish wood surfaces, cabinetry, trim, and architectural features as needed.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
  • Assist with general maintenance and minor repair tasks.
  • Participate in emergency response activities, on-call assignments, and after-hours maintenance support.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal, including shoveling, salting, sanding, and clearing walkways, entrances, stairways, and fire exits.
  • Travel between agency locations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



We require:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of painting, drywall repair, or related maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, healthcare, or institutional facilities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of painting methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of drywall installation and repair techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate ladders, lifts, scaffolding, power tools, and spray equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively with residents, staff, contractors, and management.
  • Ability to perform basic measurements, calculations, and material estimates.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid New York State Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work from ladders or elevated surfaces.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, and more with assistance when necessary.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

Work involves exposure to paints, solvents, dust, airborne particles, power tools, elevated work areas, and varying weather conditions. Employees are required to follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).


This is a full-time position (Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm) and  requires travel to locations throughout Suffolk and Nassau using Agency vans. 

It is eligible for medical/dental and has a generous paid-time off package.
