ORGANIZATIONAL IMPERATIVE:  

The Assistant Production Manager (APM) performs supervisory and other management responsibilities while also performing unloading and other warehouse labor assignments.   

SUCCESS FACTORS:      

We will know the APM is successful when: 

  • There is year over year improvement in retention and turnover 

  • There is year of year improvement is DART rating 

  • Financial targets as determined by company leadership are met or exceeded 

  • There is year over year sustained or improved WC costs 

  • There is year over year sustained or improved direct wage costs

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Directs associates to perform operations safely and efficiently. 

  • Utilizes daily huddles with Associates to ensure operating procedures and assignments are communicated properly.   

  • Coordinates work assignments and ensures assignments are completed timely.  

  • Communicates with associates, host management, transportation partners, and FHI leadership to ensure performance standards and safety goals are accomplished. 

  • Provides recommendations for hiring, promotions, and terminations of associates.  

  • Makes recommendations and implements changes for performance improvement. 

  • Maintains safety mindset through daily safety inspections, adherence to safety policies, EHS Safety Audits, reporting potential safety threats; works with leadership to remedy threatening situations. 

  • Guarantee safeguard measures are being adhered to maintain cleanliness and a debris free work area. 

  • Printing of necessary papers for operation  

  • Mentors and trains of new associates  

  • Performs load verification for accuracy  

  • Ensure Time Keeping (Kronos) Policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to.  Performs timekeeping audits.  Approves time. 

  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time at the discretion of management.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Warehouse work environment with varying temperatures, at both hot and cold extremes 

  • Must be able to lift cases by hand weighing from 25 to 95 pounds 

  • Must be able to operate warehouse/material moving equipment (onet) 

  • Ability to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat the majority of the workday. 

  • Use of standard office equipment in typical office environment/conditions. 

  • Ability to use close and distance vision to focus on computer screen for the majority of the workday. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:   

  • We believe that skills and experience are what truly matter. While education can be a valuable asset, it is not a strict requirement for success in this role. 

Experience: 

  • Experience receiving or unloading in a warehouse or distribution setting 

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Knowledge of logistics, preferred 

  • Able to read, write and understand English
