Job Overview: The Cook's primary responsibility is to plan and prepare meals from scratch that are memorable, enjoyable, nutritious, and community-building experiences. As a cook with us, you will support residents and accommodate their individual tastes and service plans by engaging them in the meal planning and preparation process. You play an important role in establishing the kitchen as the heart of every home by creating a welcoming and supportive kitchen environment. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to careers@vandahealth.net #carestaff Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age or older Experience cooking on a large scale 6 months experience cooking in long-term care preferred Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds Ability to pass a food service sanitation course Obtain a food handler's card Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances Experience in food service or restaurant experience required Comfortable standing, stopping, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices
