Job Summary:
This position will help implement and maintain the day-to-day clinical laboratory operations, as assigned, and in accordance with applicable CLIA regulations, best practices, HIPAA, PHI, and Standard Operating Procedures. This position will be in the lab conducting testing including quality control, troubleshooting instrumentation and performing patient sample analysis. Essential to the success of this position is Education & Training: Associate or bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology, and/or completion of accredited MLT, MT, or MLS program.
Job Responsibilities:
- Processes and prepares patient samples as required
- Demonstrates an understanding of the computer systems used in the laboratory
- Tracks and locates missing specimens
- Participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures
- Performs miscellaneous support duties as defined by the department
- Active in training and competency of laboratory personnel
Qualifications:Â
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent
- 1-3 years of clinical lab experience preferred
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
