Reports to: Production Manager

 

Cooperates with: Operations/Production, Procurement, Engineering, Human Resources

 

Location: Prior Lake, MN

 

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 3:00pm - 1:30am

 

Primary Responsibility: The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the team of 2nd shift employees and ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of products, parts, or components.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Provide leadership and direction to the shop floor team.
    • Conduct daily team huddles to communicate goals, performance expectations, on-time performance, safety updates and company updates.
    • Manage team schedules and overtime always to ensure proper coverage.
    • Ensure timecards are accurate and approve for payrolls.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to the production and/or plant manager.
    • Address conflicts and performance issues promptly and effectively.
    • Participate in daily plant leadership huddles to ensure cascading communication is gathered.
  • Production Management
    • Oversee daily production activities in his or her area to ensure schedules and targets are met.
    • Monitor jobs and sales orders and ensure timely completion.
    • Coordinate with plant leadership to align shop floor activities with overall production schedule.
  • Quality Control
    • Ensure all products meet or exceed customer specifications and quality standards.
    • Work with the quality control team and/or other plant leadership to address non-conformance issues.
    • Assist quality team with root cause analysis for quality issues and execute corrective actions when applicable.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Report all safety concerns and incidents to Plant Leadership and EHS Manager.
    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Conduct a minimum of 1 weekly safety observation and address any safety concerns promptly.
    • Promote STOP WORK authority by intervening in any unsafe act or condition.
  • Training and Development
    • Actively recognize and reinforce safety practices.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate on-board training for team members.
    • Ensure all team members are trained on new equipment, processes, and safety protocols.
    • Assist in the interview and onboarding process of new employees within your department.
  • Communication
    • Act as a liaison between team members and supervisors.
    • Communicate instructions, updates, and changes from supervisors to the team.
    • Provide feedback from team members to supervisors to improve processes and address concerns.
    • Check & respond timely to emails daily.
    • Monitor and respond to calendar invites in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company documents including production drawings.
  • Strong leadership and management skills are essential to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions, report issues, and collaborate with other departments.
  • The ability to identify and address issues, make decisions under pressure, and implement solutions is crucial.
  • Basic Computer skills using applications such as email and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Secondary education or training in manufacturing and continuous improvement desirable.

Pay Range: $28/hr+ depending on experience
