Position Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Technician II independently performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on complex manufacturing equipment. The technician diagnoses equipment failures, restores equipment to operational condition, and supports equipment improvement, installation, and reliability initiatives. The Technician II is expected to work independently on routine and moderately complex problems while providing technical support to less-experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on complex manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC/HMI diagnostics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Repair and replace motors, drives, sensors, actuators, valves, cylinders, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and other equipment components.
  • Troubleshoot basic PLC-controlled equipment and identify I/O, sensor, actuator, and communication issues.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using appropriate meters and test equipment within established qualifications and safety requirements.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and identify root causes of recurring failures.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks and recommend changes based on equipment condition.
  • Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and qualification activities.
  • Assist engineering with equipment modifications, process improvements, and reliability projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to Technician I employees.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history in the CMMS.
  • Monitor spare-parts usage and identify critical spare-parts requirements.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities for chronic equipment problems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime, MTBF, MTTR, safety, and maintainability.
  • Follow all LOTO, electrical safety, machine safety, chemical safety, and EHS requirements.
  • Serve as a technical resource during equipment breakdowns and production interruptions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to 5S, 3R

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree, certificate, apprenticeship, or equivalent industrial maintenance training preferred.
  • 7+ years of industrial equipment maintenance experience, preferably in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and HMI systems preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS systems preferred.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment and mechanical diagnostic tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work compressed week schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
