Pay range: $190,000.00 - $220,000.00 USD

Job Summary:

The Regional Commercial Manager is responsible for maintaining current and generating new sources of recycling materials, both ferrous and non-ferrous, to meet operational capacities and deliver a safe, consistently profitable business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, protocols, and other EHS requirements.
  • Follow all purchasing guidelines to prevent prohibited materials from entering our facilities.
  • Create and foster a culture of respect and success to grow the next generation of leaders and protect business continuity.
  • Purchase, and manage the purchasing of, recyclable materials into the region.
  • Maintain good business contacts and favorable relations with current customers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date CRM of current, past, and prospective customers. 
  • Gather and keep up to date, appropriate information about the local market.
  • Review and provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports including estimated inbound volume, type, and grade of material, etc.
  • Work with the transportation team to ensure the most economical means of transport are used.
  • Align goals with the Regional Operations Manager to drive profitability. 
  • Work with Regional Business Partner to create accurate financial forecasts and modeling.
  • Provide timely and accurate pricing to the scale.
  • Assist in developing strategic plans for the business.
  • Ensure the region is following all local, state, and internal scrap purchasing rules and laws, including antitrust.  Collaborate with our internal teams to facilitate all training to do so.
  • Manage and direct all activities of the Commercial Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to identify, grade, and determine quality of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Positive attitude, goal-oriented, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable, flexible, and ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent time management skills.
  • Shredder buying experience.

Education, Training, or Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Five or more years’ experience in the scrap or related industry.
  • At least five years of management experience, including direct management of Buyers, preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Make visits to current and prospective new customers.
  • Visit clients encompassing a 200 mile area with the possibility of occasional visits of greater distances.
