I. SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Guest Services Manager, the Guest Services Attendant II is primarily responsible for providing services to the visiting public and for activities associated with maintaining a friendly, secure, and informative environment. They are responsible for assisting GSA I staff in register sale overrides, voids and sales returns. 聽GSA II also assist the GS Coordinator in the organization of GSA I staff and orchestrating daily breaks, lunches and assist in opening and closing of Park, as assigned.


II. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

路 Serve as the first contact for Park guests, providing an excellent customer service experience to each guest.

路 Engage guests while in Park. Offer assistance, answer questions, and give direction to guests as needed.

路 Greet visitors, collect entry fees accordingly, and maintain a visitor count.

路 Provide information to the public regarding interpretation of park facilities and exhibitions.

路 Monitor activities within the park complex to ensure safety of guests, living and non-living collections, displays, etc.

路 Manage a cash drawer, count and reconcile money, and post amounts to daily balance sheet.

路 Assist GSA I in register sale overrides, voids and sales returns.

路 Coordinate with GS Coordinator to orchestrate daily breaks, lunches and assist in opening and closing of Park, as assigned.

路 Maintain a clean and orderly front desk area, replace pamphlets, set out and return donation boxes at the beginning and end of the day.

路 Support answering the park鈥檚 main telephone line by referring calls to staff or voice mail, and providing information to the public regarding park programs and events.

路 Inspect park buildings including doors, windows, alarm systems and exhibit areas, kitchen, lighting, television monitors, floors, restrooms, museum grounds, etc. to assure the building, its contents, and the premises are secure, sanitary, clean, and orderly.

路 Lock/unlock front doors, turn on/off alarm systems and lights upon opening and closing.

路 Provide support to Park events/meetings and assist with set up/takedown of tables, chairs, etc.

路 Other duties as assigned.聽

Requirements

聽聽

I. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

路 Minimum of one (1) year experience working with the public in customer service environment.

路 Experience working with point-of-sale cash register system or comfortable working in computer

environment desirable.


II. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

路 Professional, outgoing communicator.

路 Able to greet and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and guests, including school-age children, young adults, and teachers.

路 Able to multi-task (for example, interact with guests while watching over the store area or exhibit displays to minimize theft or damage).

路 Able to observe, recognize, and take action to correct potentially hazardous situations whether via actions by guests or problems with museum equipment or displays.

路 Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.聽

路 (Regular Full and Part-Time Staff excluding Temporary/Seasonal Staff) must possess a valid California driver鈥檚 license or be able to acquire within ten (10) days. Provide a clean DMV report.聽
