Responsibilities
- Design and Development: mechanical and electrical system design and analysis problems for robotics structure, mechanisms, power transmissions, electric components, and systems integration while balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability
- Supporting parts manufacture: Working with internal/external partners to support part fabrication and complex custom sub assembly
- Assembly of robot: Hands on work in the lab constructing sub-assemblies to full system level robot prototypes
- Failure analysis: Build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions
- Collaboration: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to deliver technical solutions
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineering and with experience in machine design or electrical component development
- Experience designing electromechanical assemblies (robotics, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation)
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools
- Experience with prototyping processes and materials
- Experience with embedded systems and communication protocols
- Experience in tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in power electronics and battery management programming
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Experience with simulation tools conducting finite element analysis: structural and modal
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Experience in Robotics and consumer electronic product design
- Familiarity with traditional mass production manufacturing processes, including injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal
- Experience with automation equipment design and custom machine builds
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
