Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Equipment Engineer to support design, maintenance definition, purchasing equipment, and general support of the labs at our Redmond test facility. 

In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems.  Our products enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Design solutions to support vacuum systems used in the hot fire testing of rocket engines.
  • Coordinate purchase of equipment, components, and materials for equipment in the test facility.
  • Work with EHS to ensure appropriate use of safety protocols and environmental requirements are met for all facility activities.
  • Coordinate activities with internal personnel as well as outside contractors to complete facility projects (replace equipment, implement improvements, troubleshoot issues, etc.)
  • Use and operate various computer systems to procure facility equipment.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to come up with logical answers.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the working team and those contacted in the course of work
  • Effectively communicate to supervision/lead person, maintenance, engineering or other employees of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the test lab

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience is preferred, but not required. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline preferred.
  • Experience with boiler systems and cooling towers
  • Experience sizing vacuum pumps for small to large scale applications
  • Familiarity with sizing and specifying hydraulic equipment used for incompressible flow systems (i.e. pumps, valves, sensors, flowmeters, etc.).
  • Knowledge of high pressure gas systems and industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as necessary.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the State of Washington is $70,500 - $130,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location..
