Essential Job Functions Include:

• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must have a current Nevada DMV 1G Emission Inspector License
• Must have reliable transportation
• Work as a team to ensure procedures are complete
• Observe and comply with safety rules and regulations
• Provide smog check services to customer vehicles
• Perform emissions tests on vehicles
• Ensure inspections are completed according to Nevada emissions requirements
• Accurately enter customer, vehicle, and inspection information into the computer
• Provide prompt and courteous customer service
• Explain the service provided
• Recommend additional services
• Answer customer questions
• Accept payment for services
• May be required to assist on the lube side during downtime on the smog side
• Maintain a clean work area, including the grounds, restrooms, and customer area
• Perform related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to read and write English and maintain a current Nevada DMV 1G Emission Inspector License. Equipment operation includes emissions-testing devices and related equipment. The employee must be able to reach four feet overhead. Bending, stretching, and walking up and down stairs will be required regularly. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers and respond to communication calls from coworkers. Mobility is required.

Scope of Position:

This position reports to the Manager and Assistant Manager and has no direct supervisory responsibilities. This position receives daily assignments from the Manager and Assistant Manager and will rotate through all Smog Technician duties. The employee may also be assigned Lube Technician duties during downtime on the smog side.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a garage environment 100% of the time. Exposure to vehicle exhaust, heavy equipment, slick surfaces, and hot and cold temperatures.
