Job DetailsJob Location: Post Trail - RESTON, VA 20190Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $70,000.00 Salary/yearJob Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesDirector-Crest Community Center  Reports to Job Role: EVP, Housing and Community Programs FLSA: Exempt (Salary) Employee Factor: 40 hours per week R/S/T/O/I: Regular Level: Director  Descriptive Summary The Director provides overall facilitation and direction of Crest Community Center, an Equitable Community Development (ECD) anchor institution that supports affordable housing, workforce participation, family stability, and kindergarten readiness in one location. The Director establishes and facilitates partnerships for service delivery at the Crest Community Center. The Director collaborates closely with the co-located child development center to ensure that Fairfax Crest households are prioritized for affordable childcare. The Director must possess a patient, trauma-informed approach to service delivery using an equity lens. The Director ensures that services are equitable and delivered with integrity in accordance with the Agency Mission, Vision, and Values.  Essential Functions of the Equitable Community Development (ECD) Model framework and interconnected pillars to ensure that redevelopment and community investment benefit existing residents—particularly those in historically underserved communities. Promotes Early Childhood and Education in collaboration with the co-located child development center to support access to high-quality early learning, school readiness, out-of-school-time programming, and family engagement in children’s education. Supports Economic Opportunity through workforce development, financial empowerment, small business support, and employment pathways. Supports Housing Stability by facilitating connections to case management and housing counseling services to prevent displacement. Supports Health and Well-Being by facilitating recreation and healthy living, food security, and access to on-site healthcare to maintain physical and behavioral health. Facilitates Community Leadership and Resident Engagement by supporting and encouraging resident-led decision making, civic participation, leadership development, and building neighborhood capacity. Promotes Safe and Connected Neighborhoods through public safety in public spaces, transportation and community cohesion. Specific duties include: Responsible for the day-to-day oversight and operation of the Crest Community Center. Creates an inclusive and equitable environment where all residents of Fairfax Crest can thrive. Manages partnerships and service delivery of Cornerstones programs and partner agencies co-located at the Crest Community Center. Encourages partnerships both internal and external for improved services and greater community impact. Leads and coaches staff in advancing strong partnerships, equitable services, and resident empowerment. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with community leaders. Provides the safety and security of Cornerstones’ assets. Maintains a resource center with appropriate information for Crest households. Attracts additional financial and in-kind resources. Reports to Cornerstones Board of Directors as needed and represents the Crest Community Center to service providers, county officials, elected officials, and Cornerstones committees. Works with EVP , to identify current or new needs for funding; providing appropriate and timely support for proposal applications and reporting processes. Monitors goals and outcomes of the Crest Community Center and Youth Empowerment Program, completes TANF and NAP reports, and makes recommendations for improvements as needed. Represent Cornerstones effectively at community meetings with partner agencies and funders.  Provide other services as needed for Cornerstones as an organization. Supervisory Responsibilities Oversees the operation of the Crest Community Center and co-located partner agencies. Supervises and supports the Youth Empowerment Coordinator. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor’s degree in an applicable human services field or commensurate experience with community building, housing stability, and youth enrichment programs. Master’s Degree preferred. MSW plus two years post-Master’s experience a plus. Verbal and written proficiency in English/Spanish or English/Arabic a preferred. 5 years of experience directing and managing community center service delivery and operations. A candidate that has the ability to use one's lived personal experience of housing or financial instability to help assess system barriers is a plus.      Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite or related software. Extensive knowledge and understanding of tenant’s rights and responsibilities, “strengths based” case management. Advanced skills in housing stability strategies and priorities, trauma informed care, and racial equity. Effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, program participants, volunteers, community members, partner agencies, and elected officials. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, with strong attention to follow-through. Ability to work collaboratively with others and as a member of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when necessary. Must be detailed, flexible, and able to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights or weekends as needed. Must be responsible, dependable, and display the highest level of integrity. Attitude Attentive to constraints of time and funds in setting stretch goals. Collaborative leader, working with others individually and in teams. Work Environment The work is performed in a typical office environment. Occasional driving of personal or Cornerstones’ vehicle.
