Job DetailsJob Location: Emerald Isle Foods - Richmond, VA 23234Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 Salary/yearJob Shift: DayPosition Summary: Emerald Isle Foods is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor to lead and support sanitation operations across our production and warehouse facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant environment that supports the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality food products. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both supervision and active participation in sanitation activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in food manufacturing sanitation programs. The Sanitation Supervisor will be primarily based at the Pre-Cut and Warehouse operations and is expected to spend approximately 80% of time on the production floor and 20% on documentation and compliance activities. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Supervision Supervise and coordinate daily sanitation activities across the processing plant, warehouse, and surrounding grounds Lead, coach, train, and develop sanitation team members Assess performance and provide ongoing feedback to sanitation staff Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety standards Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, HARPC, FDA, and OSHA regulations Implement and monitor sanitation procedures, food safety standards, and pest control programs Support food safety and food defense initiatives throughout the facility Monitor, verify, and document sanitation SOPs and quality standards Assist with internal and external audits and facility walk-throughs Operational Responsibilities Actively participate in sanitation activities on the production floor Manage sanitation schedules and daily cleaning operations Maintain inventory of sanitation chemicals, cleaning tools, and required PPE Ensure proper use and handling of sanitation chemicals Partner with QA/QC leadership to develop and improve sanitation programs Training & Documentation Conduct sanitation and food safety training (SSOPs) Maintain sanitation records, documentation, and verification logs Assist in developing sanitation procedures and continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications  Qualifications, Skills and Experience Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in food science, Agricultural Science, Operations Management, or related field preferred OR High School Diploma / Associate Degree with 3–5 years of sanitation or food manufacturing experience Required Skills Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, FDA/USDA regulations) Experience with sanitation chemicals and cleaning procedures Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) Ability to lift 50-60ilbs Ability to work in a cold environment of 35 degrees Preferred Qualification HACCP Certification Experience in food manufacturing or fresh/pre-cut food environment Why Join Emerald Isle Foods?
