Summary of Job Content: 

The Mechanical Project Engineer I reports to the Plant Engineering Manager with the responsibility for providing mechanical engineering design and project management at Resonac Inc. Electrode manufacturing facility. The position includes project management/engineering for capital projects (from project requirements to specification and design to installation); major equipment modification for reliability improvement; equipment rebuilds; and limited technical support for the plant Maintenance Department.


Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering(required).
  • 5+ years of engineering design and/or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of PMBOK or similar methodologies.
  • Heavy industry and hydraulics/pneumatics/material handling or thermal oil experience preferred

Skills & Competencies 

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, MS Office, and SAP.
  • Strong communication, design, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis.

Key Accountabilities:

Manage all phases of engineering projects from project request to project closure:

  • Lead project team in the development of a solution to a projectrequest.
  • Designsolutions& produce drawings based upon scope of work & interactionwithend-user.
  • Formulate scope/specifications for the purchase of capital and non-capitalequipment and contractlabor.
  • Develop andutilizeproject risk managementplans.
  • Prepare appropriation requests for capital equipmentpurchases& majorrepairs.
  • Track/forecast project schedule (Gantt charts) andcosts.
  • Accomplish project work with vendors & contractors through professionaland effective use ofestablished departmental and divisional purchasingprocedures (bid inquiry, bid procedure, liaison, and contract specifications)
  • Develop Bills of Material & recommendations for spares for all projectequipment
  • Provide training to end-users on changes to existing equipment and newinstallations.
  • Recommendations for Maintenance on PM activities for new equipment
  • Insist on the highest expectations of quality, safety,&housekeeping fromContractorson jobs for which you arePPR.
  • Support focused improvement efforts through improvements to maintenancepractices and design changes to existingequipment.
  • Support Operations in assigned plant areas by staying engaged in equipmentreliability and knowledge of recurringmalfunctions.
  • Provide necessaryupdating todrawings created by modifications toequipment, errors, etc.
  • Assures compliance with Company & Plant policies, health andsafety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, & good housekeeping practices.
