Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trade Compliance Associate to join our CSD Segment. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start their career in trade compliance and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

As a Trade Compliance Associate, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations. You will assist in the classification of goods, preparation of documentation, and research of trade regulations, while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding Trade Regulations: Learn and interpret import/export regulations, tariffs, sanctions, and other relevant trade rules.
  • Classifying Goods: Assist in determining proper classification of products under systems like the Harmonized System (HS) and assigning relevant tariff codes and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs).
  • Researching and Monitoring: Stay updated on changes to trade laws and regulations, identify their impact on the business, and research specific compliance requirements.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Maintain accurate records, utilize trade management tools, and generate reports on trade activity or compliance metrics.
  • Supporting Compliance Initiatives: Assist with audits, assessments, and the implementation of compliance programs and procedures.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Interact with internal departments (e.g., logistics, legal, and finance), external partners (e.g., customs brokers, freight forwarders), and potentially government agencies.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex regulations and identify potential compliance risks.

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in business or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating spreadsheets, using formulas, and generating pivot tables. 
  • Data Visualization Expertise: Ability to create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to effectively communicate trade compliance metrics and insights
  • Machine Learning Knowledge: Understanding of machine learning algorithms and their application in automating classification tasks, such as assigning tariff codes or ECCNs.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is $71,100 - $85,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
