Production Planner/Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

A production planner coordinates manufacturing workflows, manages inventory, and builds schedules to ensure goods are delivered on time and within budget.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Schedule Creation: Build and update detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales forecasts and customer orders.
  • Production plan for budgeting purposes annually.
  • Resource Allocation: Assign staff, equipment, and raw materials efficiently to maximize plant performance.
  • Locate and evaluate vendors for materials, if necessary.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels of raw materials and finished goods to prevent costly shortages or excess overstock.
  • Usage of lean principles would apply to processes and pull planning.
  • Issue Resolution: Spot production bottlenecks or delays quickly and adjust workflows to minimize downtime.
  • Cross-Function Communication: Work closely with procurement, warehouse, quality control, and plant managers to align on goals.
  • Reporting: Track metrics and present production status and performance data to upper management.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or industrial engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of ERP software.
  • Proficiency in Excel, and production planning tools, (Power BI).
  • Experience working in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of logistics and general Supply Chain processes.
  • Attention to details and ability to ensure accurate work
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience interacting with/supporting customers.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional organization, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage high-pressure environments.
