About the Role

At M2X Energy, we’re rethinking how fuels and chemicals are made — turning stranded natural gas into valuable, low-carbon products that help combat climate change.

In this role, you’ll help build our modular, mobile gas-to-methanol systems by working with carbon and stainless steel to weld, fabricate, and assemble the structural frames, piping, and pressure vessels that make up our “chemical plant on wheels.” This is a hands-on role where your craftsmanship and attention to detail will directly impact the quality, safety, and success of our systems in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build with Precision: Weld structural frames, piping systems, and pressure vessels according to drawings, codes, and weld procedures.
  • Fabricate & Assemble: Cut, fit, and assemble ferrous and non-ferrous materials for modular skids and process systems.
  • Interpret Drawings: Read and follow fabrication drawings, isometrics, and weld callouts to execute accurately and efficiently.
  • Integrate Systems: Assemble equipment, piping, valves, and controls into sub-skids/modules, ensuring proper fit and functionality.
  • Support Electrical Integration: Install basic wiring and electrical components per assembly instructions.
  • Ensure Quality & Safety: Conduct inspections, verify dimensional fit, and comply with QA/QC standards and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate to Deliver: Work closely with engineers, QA, and other technicians to troubleshoot issues, solve problems, and deliver on timelines.

Qualifications

  • A foundation in Welding, Manufacturing, or Engineering Technology (a technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent background) and proven hands-on experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Proficiency with FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW processes on carbon and stainless steels in 3G/4G plate and 6G pipe positions.
  • Valid welding certifications with experience in carbon steel, stainless steel, and dissimilar materials.
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings, isometrics, schematics, and job specifications.
  • Understanding of process piping, bolted joints, mechanical compression connections, and instrument installation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with solid communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Interest in advancing into automated welding or specialized procedures.
  • Familiarity with inspection processes and standards (AWS, API, ASTM, ASNDT).
  • Strong skills with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, protractors, etc.) and layout techniques.
  • Basic rigging skills and comfort lifting/moving heavy equipment.
  • Experience working in varied environments — including confined spaces, heights, and extended physical activity.
